Today was a great day for softball and two games showed just how good these teams are.
LAKESIDE DERMATOLOGY vs ALAN JAY AUTO
The Senior Softball game between Lakeside Dermatology and Alan Jay Auto came down to the last out with Lakeside securing the win 20-19. Lakeside jumped out to a 10-0 lead after two innings and 12-7 after five. Alan Jay pulled to 11-12 after six innings. After that both teams traded 4 run innings to end 20-19. Alan Jay's offense was led by Dan Slot who was 5-5 with 3 doubles and a triple and 4 RBIs. Steve Smutnick, Dan Crosier and Don Dobbert were each 4-5. Everyone in the lineup scored at least one run. Dan Slot made an over the shoulder catch which was worthy of the highlight reel! Alan Jay Auto's record is now 12-5.

LAKESIDE REPORT:
We played Alan Jay today, and won 20 to 19. We were up by 5 going into the bottom of the last inning. Alan Jay scored 4 and had the tying run at 3rd, but we held on to win just as the rains started.
Highlights for Lakeshore Dermatology included:
Curt Glassman pitching another great game plus hitting two home runs and a double, driving in 5 runs.
Vince Ferrer went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs.
Jeff Ayers went 4 for 4 with 2 RBIs.
Lou Carman went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and an RBI.

VFW vs ELK'S
Talk about a wild game. VFW and Elk's definitely had one of those games today.
Elk's started off with a bang and their bats were working, giving them a 9-1 lead just after 3 innings.
But the game was not over yet, as VFW had the Elk's team looking over their shoulders and by the top of the 8th inning, VFW stormed back and was within two runs of the Elk's 14-12 lead.
The VFW team came up in the bottom of the 8th inning and started pounding the ball .
They then tied the game with 1 out and winning run on third.
Lester Osbeck came up and blasted a sharp single into left field to bring in the winning run.
Final Score - VFW 15 - Elk's 14.
This writer had a chance to talk with winning pitcher and Coach, Lester Osbeck after the game and I asked him what the key ingredient was for today's win.
" You need a team that picks each other up when a couple or so guys are having off days and our team is doing a good job at that"
Great game guys... and Great come from behind win !
